  1. WHAT IS THIS?!
    As per belatedly posted Agenda:
3.50 Agenda Item - Committee Nominations and Election "IF NECESSARY". Of course it's necessary both in terms of the Constitution and process agreed at the last MUG meeting of December 7.It is noted this agreed process hasn't been adhered to.
4.45 Agenda Item- Election Result "IF NECESSARY"
Do both of the above imply there will be no election, no options,no new candidates and that the outcome has already been decided?

    1. Surely if the the number of people standing for election and the number necessary for the committee are the same there is no need for an election. In other groups I have been involved with under such circumstances the chair proposes that all candidates are elected as a slate.

  2. There are 12 committee seats. If there are more than 12 nominations then an election is required. If not, no election is required. 2011 was the first AGM since 2008 that an election was needed. It is pretty unusual for park user groups (or any voluntary group such as a TRA) to have more committee nominations than seats, so that was a sign of an exceptionally healthy & active group.

It's good manners to identify yourself, by the way.

    1. The election process agreed at the December meeting can be found at the 'Constitution etc' page (link at top right of this page). It says:

"9. If there are more than 12 candidates, an election is held by secret paper ballot"

      I hope that's clear now.

    1. Sorry, anon2. I hadn't actually seen your comment when I said that. We deliberately set this site up so that you don't have to register etc, but apologies for what's not clear, we do need to work on it more.

You can just write your name at the end, like this.

    2. I refer you all to the MUG blogsite archive: Improving Committee Elections.
Hopefully this will clarify the discussion.

    1. Sorry, that was posted too late to reply before the meeting, but not to leave it hanging ... Louisa took part in the AGM & got to inspect the committee for herself. And has agreed to convene a working group on dogs. Thanks.
